Pursuing justice is our business.

At Patterson Justice Counsel, we strive to live and work beyond the letter of the law to fully exemplify the spirit of justice and equality inherent in the law.
I became a lawyer because something was wrong with the law. The history of this nation, its systems of government, and its most cherished document- the Constitution- uphold and treasure the noble ideals of freedom and independence, of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Yet despite these sacred values, something was fundamentally wrong. I didn’t have a place to claim these rights because Black people like me were enslaved, stripped of their humanity and existence and reduced to being solely the white man’s chattel.
That well documented history is part of what has informed my judicial philosophy to seek justice where wrong can be found, to challenge injustice in the presence of abuse of power and authority and to use the legal system to right wrongs of the past as well as new and emerging challenges that may limit our rights instead of expanding them.
We stand on the side of justice when someone has been wronged because we believe it is a moral call to conscience that always requires an answer in the affirmative.
